I had my first taste of a Fire Drill at work. It feels like I was back in school once again. The Fire warden of each department is supposed to gather their own people and then bring them to 'safety' (which was like just across the office building)... we were like totally at lost at what to do...I was asking 'Oh, are we supposed to like start running for our dear lives NOW??!!'...only to be told by the Fire Warden 'No, not now, just gather outside the department first.... wait for the 2nd ring'...I subsequently found out that there was just ONE LOOOOOOOOONG ring....(fortunately, this is just a DRILL!!)

We were taking our own sweet time, strolling and musing at the 'speed' at which everyone strolled to the gathering point...anyway, if it had been a REAL FIRE/EMERGENCY, I guess half of my colleagues, lots of older folks like the cleaners and pregnant colleagues (as they were all 'excused' from this exercise), a dozen cats in the building compound, several luxury cars (including my little car) would have been long gone...

Plus, I seriously think these fire drills should get more creative...like how to get out should the COMFORTABLE ROUTES were impossible to pass...you know, something like making us jump out of the 3rd flr windows into a huge inflatable cushion...or other evacuation routes like some secret tunnels....would have been much more engaaging and a trillion times more useful??

Anyway, we had a good time...in fact, several of us who had the techno phones were busy snapping pictures of the crowd gathered at the compound....

oh well..... it was nonetheless a good break from the usual monotony of our daily chores...
